Initially in my health care career, I practiced as a registered nurse in a world of conventional medicine, the way most nurses, physicians and hospitals in this country do: I gave prescribed drugs and assisted with surgery and its aftermath. When a patient complained of allergies, I gave an antihistamine. For a patient who had high blood pressure, I gave an antihypertensive drug. If a patient suffered from anxiety, I gave an antianxiety medication. There was no end to the number of “antidotes” that could be prescribed to address one or another of my patients’ symptoms. When the drugs I gave had bothersome side effects, other drugs could be given to take care of those symptoms. And so it goes on and on.
I see individuals in my practice every day who have sought care from numerous other practitioners before finally getting proper care at our office. From fatigue, acid stomach, weight gain, frequent colds, head aches, joint and muscle pain, loss of strength and endurance, cardiovascular issues, urinary problems to menstrual and fertility issues, we are fully equipped and experienced to handle your health concerns.
I have committed my life to exploring the real underlying reasons for sickness.
Like you, I experienced first hand how the health care system fails to address the person but instead relies on expensive tests. In fact, if these tests fail to identify the problem, you are basically told to go home and get sicker.
I have dedicated my life to changing the health care system from illness to wellness.
Nursing came naturally to me because of its support of wellness. However, working as a nurse I learned quickly that the old habits of the health care industry were build into the very foundation. I suffered a ruptured disk from patient care and doctors told me I needed drugs and surgery. I decided to try chiropractic. For the first time in 2 months I could put on my socks and walk without pain. Chiropractic provided a way for me to change health care by accurately diagnosing health issues and treating them without drugs or surgery.
Now with over 17 years combined experience in health care as a registered nurse and a board certified chiropractic physician, I have the ability to provide the best possible natural health care.
I attended two of the best universities: University of Michigan, ranked #2 in the nation for its nursing program, graduated Summa Cum Laude, and National University of Health Sciences, a leading institution setting standards in the fields of functional medicine and chiropractic Medicine, graduating with honors. I was also a physiology fellow and an anatomy department assistant. This combined background is unique and allows me to integrate the best of traditional medicine with the most effective means of alternative care base on sound scientific research. This is the essence of functional medicine.
